In October 2015 we were able to bring Belvin Faga and his parents to the Gold Coast. Belvin is a 6 year old boy from Kirakira and his mother, Betty, serves as a hospital midwife. Belvin developed hydrocephalus (enlarged head) which resulted in blindness. Unfortunately there are no facilities or specialists available in the Solomon Islands to review and help manage these kinds of conditions. During his visit to the Gold Coast several specialists and services gave their time to review Belvin providing reassurance and plans for ongoing management.
